VISUAL ETHNOGRAPHY OF CITYSCAPES
Summer School
July 1st-23rd, 2017 | A Collaboration between the Laboratory of Anthropological Research, the Netherlands Institute at Athens (NIA), the Athens Ethnographic Film Festival (Ethnofest) and the Department of Sociocultural Anthropology of Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam
Young researchers, students, and visual artists from various countries and different academic, as well as cultural backgrounds, will come together in Athens and participate in an intensive three-week program, in order to get hands-on experience with the theory and tools of visual anthropology. They will attend lectures and courses, they will participate actively in workshops, they will cluster in research groups and will create their own documentaries, approaching the city of Athens through an ethnographic lens. A selection of these films will be screened at the 9th Athens Ethnographic Film Festival – Ethnofest, which will take place in November 21st – 25th 2017.
