ETHNOGRAPHY AND ANTHROPOLOGY: ANTHROPOLOGICAL WRITING WORKSHOP

WORKSHOP

Μarch 4th-April 8th, 2020, Wednesdays 17:30-19:30 | Duration: five two-hour meetings | ΕΑΕ Rm 318, Glass Building, Panteion | Coordination: Aris Anagnostopoulos in collaboration with the Laboratory of Anthropological Research and the Program of Postgraduate Studies

The workshop is offered on an annual basis since the academic year 2017/18. It aims to introduce the participants to issues related to anthropological writing, especially narrative techniques, as well as techniques of description and analysis in ethnography. Each meeting will be organized in two parts:
the first part will be based on careful reading and analysis of important ethnographic texts, and the parallel reading of critical texts on anthropological writing. The second part of the meetings will be more practice-oriented and will be based on creative writing exercises, which will aim to lay open the writing process so that the different levels of narrative and description in the fieldnotes and in the final ethnographic publication will be demonstrated.
